Warren & Brown Technologies advances its 3D printing capabilities
3D printing is no longer a technology of the future, it is here now and is being utilised by Warren and Brown Technologies (WBT) to design and manufacture connectivity solutions. Recently, WBT acquired two new 3D printers to up the game and offer a huge advantage for the company’s development and manufacturing capabilities. The Stratasys FORTUS 450mc and Stratasys Objet24, both imported from the U.S., represent an investment of almost half a million dollars that is really paying off.
The Stratasys FORTUS 450mc builds with many of the same standard, engineering-grade and high-performance thermoplastics used in traditional manufacturing processes. It produces complex, high-requirement parts faster and more cost-effectively when smaller volumes are required.
The Stratasys Objet24 is based on PolyJet technology which is similar to inkjet document printing, but instead of jetting drops of ink onto paper, PolyJet 3D printers dispense layers of liquid photopolymer onto a build tray and then cures them with UV light. The layers are built up one at a time to create a 3D model or prototype.
These high-end machines are being used at WBT for rapid prototyping and also in the actual production environment to produce low volume or urgent requirement parts. These latest additions fortify and add to WBT’s capabilities in solution design and manufacturing. “With the 3D printing technology it is possible to evaluate more concepts in less time to improve decisions early in product development”, detailed Miroslav Vuruna, R&D Engineering Manager.
